New 7 Wonders of Nature

Fernando de Noronha is an archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, around 354 km offshore from the Brazilian Coast. A trip to Fernando de Noronha can mean the accomplishment of a dream for the majority of Brazilians. In the archipelago, tourism is developed in a sustainable way, creating a balance between man and nature, in one of the most important ecological sanctuaries of the world. And that's why Fernando de Noronha is running for the "New 7 Wonders of Nature".

In total, 19 scenic South American wonders have moved into the second round. The new voting period started on January 7th and goes up to July 7th, when the 77 most voted places in the world will be announced. The committee then will select, based on specific criteria, the 21 finalists that will be announced on July 21st of 2009. The third and last stage of voting will extend until 2010. At the beginning of 2011, the "New 7 Wonders of Nature" will be proclaimed.

Noronha is competing with candidates such as Grand Canyon, in the United States, and Lake Ness, in Scotland. So help us out and vote at the official website !
